Title: Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
Brittany Wallis is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) who provides therapeutic services to individuals, couples and families at Community Health of South Florida Inc.’s South Miami Health Center.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in kinesiology with a minor in psychology from Indiana University at Bloomington, where she developed an interest in understanding mental and physical health illnesses. She later studied counseling psychology at the University of Miami and earned a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy.
During her post-graduate career, Wallis treated substance abuse and mental health disorders at a residential facility for youth who had been court-ordered to receive treatment in the care of the Department of Juvenile Justice. Wallis then held a position as a family specialist and later clinical supervisor at an agency that provided prevention services to families referred by the Department of Children and Families due to reports of abuse or neglect of children. She worked with many families throughout the South Dade areas providing in-home therapeutic and case management services to caregivers needing help with creating and maintaining safe home environments.
Wallis is passionate about helping others to make the changes necessary for leading healthy, productive and satisfying lives by using a collection of cognitive behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused interventions.
